What first drew you to interior design?

I’ve been around design my whole life. My dad was a custom home builder and my mom started her own decorating business, so creativity was kind of just... the language in our house. I grew up around blueprints and fabric swatches — it stuck for me! One of my sisters is a judge and the other a teacher… so clearly, I'm the favourite child.

How does music influence your design process?

Music sets the tone, literally. The playlist starts off mellow — jazzy, smooth — then builds into more energy and momentum. Maybe a little chaotic at the end?! That mirrors how I design: ease in, find the groove, then ride the wave. No defined genre as each design is unique with many different facets.  I’m a sucker for a female vocal moment too. A good sing-a-long track when you're deep in a flow state? Nothing better. A little Rihanna break? Always welcome.

What’s your go-to song when designing?

It changes; in design school I had the Bonobo "Black Sands" album on repeat but right now? I love an impromptu dance party so maybe “I Wanna Be Your Lover” by Prince. It's got that bounce that makes you want to move — and when you're in the design zone, a fun escape is sometimes necessary from some of the seriousness. Also: it’s Prince.
